Service Description

Expert-led preparation for veterans with upcoming Mental Health C&P exams (PTSD • Depression • Anxiety • MST-related conditions • Panic disorder • Adjustment disorder • and more) Prepare for your Mental Health C&P exam with confidence in this live group class led by a licensed Nurse Practitioner and current VA C&P examiner. This session helps veterans understand what mental health examiners look for, how to communicate symptoms honestly and effectively, and how to avoid the common pitfalls that lead to inaccurate evaluations. This is a lower-cost, high-value alternative to 1:1 prep while still giving veterans access to accurate, examiner-level guidance. What This Class Covers 1. Understanding the Mental Health C&P Exam How the VA structures mental health evaluations What examiners are trained to assess How your history, symptoms, and functional impact are weighed 2. Symptom Communication Without Minimizing or Overstating How to talk about frequency, duration, and severity How to describe panic, depressive episodes, trauma-related symptoms, etc. Why certain wording/phrasing hurts your case without you realizing it 3. Functional Impact: The Most Important Part of Your Exam Learn how to explain how your condition affects: Work and productivity Social and family relationships Daily activities and coping Stress tolerance and adaptability 4. Red Flags and Common Mistakes Minimizing (most common among veterans) Overgeneralizing Providing short, incomplete answers “Trying to be tough” instead of being accurate What NOT to say or do 5. Q&A Session Veterans can ask general questions (not diagnosis-specific coaching). This adds tremendous value while keeping it fair for all attendees. ⚠️ Important Note This group class provides general mental health C&P prep. It does not include individualized coaching for personal symptoms or backgrounds. Veterans who want personalized prep can book the 1:1 Mental Health C&P Prep (1 Diagnosis) session.
